From our mother’s womb we grow
Like sunflowers with a golden glow
Aren’t we radiant , aren’t we free
Aren’t we all that we can be
We run free in body and mind
We run free in a world we define
Then we start growing some more
And in come the soaring chores
We are still radiant, we are still free, we are still all we can be
Then comes life heavy and strong
We run for others, we want to belong
We’ve almost forgotten our favourite song
We are told what to do ,
We are told how to be true
We are told to stick like glue
Don’t you dare break the mould
Don’t you dare stand up or fold
What does it matter if it’s cold
We re-think our golden glow
Now we neatly we fit in a row
We numb our pain , we dim our mind
We run in a world we don’t define
We still move on , on a road so long
Our favourite song now sounds all wrong
We live for others, fathers and brothers
We strive to please and become like rudders
And then one day we lose our lovers
A broken spirit, a body that shudders
We stop to rest and we slow down
We stop to ponder where life has gone
What use are we when the sun goes down
We are not radiant, we are not free
Can we still hope for all life can be?
The darkness flies in to make us see
We find our answers to set us free
Yes, we can hope for all life can be
Yes, fear not, we hold our key
Our spirit we free and re-believe
Our heart is heavy with what it caught, our mind is full of things to sort
We weave, we gather, we rise again
A world we re-create with less pain
And within this world our daughters reign
For they are the ones who aren’t chained
For once we don’t care to explain
They run free in body and mind
They run free in a world they define
No longer do they fit in a row
No longer do they tow and sow
They lead from front with love for all
They lead from wherever to stand tall
From our womb our daughters grow
Dancing in sunshine with a radiant glow
